He was incredible, a master at almost every facet of boxing. He had the shovel hook something I don't see used by anyone else.

He carried his power and skills up in weight but it's mind boggling to think of the carnage he would have unleashed if he was a natural Middleweight.

Oh man, if he'd been disciplined outside the ring, which he often wasn't, there's no telling what he could have done. He had every tool in the box. Yeah, if he were a natural middleweight he would have beaten Hagler and I don't think it goes the distance. Hagler was tough as nails, but who survived fifteen rounds with Duran at 135? He would have been even more nightmarish with a bigger natural build.

Roberto Duran was undoubtedly one of the Top 3 LWs of all time.

However, IMO, Sugar Shane Mosley would have been a very tough match for Duran, because of SSM's blinding hand speed, foot speed, and ability to take a punch. SSM ran off 32 wins as a LW before moving up to WW.

            Please enjoy the following video:

In any event, the Duran vs. Mosley LW match would have been one for the ages!

Ray Arcel and Freddie Brown taught him all the old school tricks of the craft.

You won't see those subtle skills from a lot of today's supposedly "advanced" modern fighters.

I think that would have definitely been an intense match-up.

                Great video, bruh...

Yes it would have been a fantastic match up. Roberto did defeat Leonard another fighter with incredible handspeed. Moskey at lightweight was formidable for sure.

If Duran were not a boxer he'd have been an incredible wrestler/grappler. It's very rare to see a guy operate in the boxing ring with that level of sensitivity to his opponents movement on the inside. He knows the punches are coming even if he can't see them coming because he can feel the weight transferring.

It's what makes a great inside fighter. All too rare a quality in boxing.
