    In-the-ring chatter

    Watching Fury v Klitschko again recently, noticed how much talking Fury was doing inside the ring. (My favourite example of this was with a minute to go in the 1st, Klitschko lunges in with a left, just missing, Fury responds, 'Wooo! Nearly!') Seems like it's a big part of Fury's style to be talking to his opponent in the ring, he was practically holding a conversation--albeit, one-sided--with Klitschko in the early rounds. Reminded me of a horse-whisperer.

    What are some examples of famous in-the-ring talkers?

    I know Ali was talk, talk, talk (e.g. 'What's my name!'), but most of what gets said goes unreported, and cannot be heard on broadcasts. Shame, as I enjoy hearing what competitors say to each other in other sports. Prince Naseem was a bit of a talker, I know, and Mayweather too

      I forget which fight it was when Hopkins turned to the HBO crew and asked how they were scoring the fight.

        Nice one, yeah, seen those before

        I guess I'm more interested to know instances where boxers have been talking directly to their opponents, as with Fury v Klitschko. I've been at amateur bouts ringside and heard the chatter that goes on, (e.g. "Is that all you've got?" and "Come on, egg-head!") and it is pretty funny sometimes, but I want to know some instances of pro-boxers who have used this technique successfully - as in, getting inside the head of their opponents. I think it was a big part of Ali's game, and it seems to be something Fury is adept at too

        I dunno how they do it so well tbh, whenever I try and talk with a gumshield in it just sounds like Chewbacca

            Chris Eubank Sr used to do it all the time. Commentary would say "Eubank talking to him in there" and I've seen more than one ref tell him to stop it.

                Many a stern warning to keep it clean refers to the language. There are refs who will deduct a point for swearing. Especially the F word, but also for the B word, the N word, the C word, the S word, the CH word, the P word, the A word, the M word, the Q word, the G word, the BA word, the CO word, the D word, the H word, the SN word, the PR word, the SH word, the FA word, the COO word and a host of others.
