This was published (NY Times) a few days before Dempsey-Tunney I. - I was surprised Wills-Firpo didn't make this list; they drew 60,000 to Boyle's Thirty Acres, the numbers had to be there.

That Carpentier fight would have been well over $20 million in today's currency. Dempsey set some gate and attendance records back then, I think that fight was about 90K in attendance. Dempsey/Tunney was something like 120K.

If Carpentier was around now he'd be a superstar.....
Not a single light heavy or cruiser I would favour over him.
Carpentier would ko a prime Roy easily!!!
Honestly I'd expect him to box Evanders ears of at cruiser.....
Interesting to see any old timey stuff like this. More cats should post random news articles or back in the day stats. All this "who's the top 300 P4P of all time" bs when most cats ain't seen two fights of some of these old timey guys is ******.

Also wtf is a Milk Fund Show?
I think the Milk Fund shows were charity events to raise money for kids who didn't have milk. A portion of proceeds would go towards milk.
Milk was not easy to come by for poor families, especially back then when it wasn't uncommon for parents to have a dozen or so kids. I can recall my grandfather telling us as a baby in the early 1900s, there was no milk, so mothers would boil barley and feed that to the kids.
The city was getting good use out of its brand new mega, state-of-the-art facility (the old) Yankee Stadium.
The '24 benefit was a Greb MW defense against a Brit [Ted Moore], with Tunney, Loughran, Stribling and Gans on the undercard. The Tommy Loughran - Young Stribling bout (to me) looked the most appealing.
