The Crazy World Of Livingstone Bramble

Check out this article from 1985. I enjoyed it, maybe you will as well. Bramble was my absolute favorite fighter as a kid. He always came to fight that's for sure.

RENO — Livingstone Bramble is angry with the media because all they want to do is write about an eccentric, a kid who trains with a boa constrictor named Dog around his neck and whose most beloved companion is a pit bull terrier named Snake.

It's like this: You hire a witch doctor for just one fight--what if it does turn out that Dr. Doo was a high school basketball coach--and nobody lets you forget it for the rest of your life.

One of my teachers from High school back around 92 was at a gym once ,he boxed too as a hobby almost hit Bramble with a 40 pound dumbell . Someone told Bramble to go up to him and play a joke on him and get in his face, Mr Lynch a solid 5'10 200 pounder ,was relieved stating he wss in panic mode when he looked at the dumbells he was holding thinking he had a quick decision to make . lol

      That's a great story!!

I met him briefly in the late 80's. I was in the Golden Gloves training program at Ace Miller's gym in Knoxville and he came through to see someone, maybe it was Frankie Randall or John Tate. Regardless I only got to say hi and shake his hand but I did hear him tell one of the guys about how he got into Mancini's head by calling him a murderer and all of that kind of stuff.

Absolutely! I remember getting a new boxing ****zine back then and opening it up and there was a poster of Bramble with a snake around his neck! I had never seen anything like that so I just had to know what this cat was about! It's a crying shame he was robbed against Oba Carr. Would have been great seeing him with one last good win.

You know I never have seen that fight but I always heard it was close. Yes, that's a shame.

Bramble called Mancini a "murderer" for psychological warfare. Harsh? Well yes, but they became friends afterwards and Bramble would go to Mancini's fights and support him.
