    Personal: Where are they now?

I found Michael Taylor on FB about year + ago. MT won my weight division (139lbs) at the 1977 USAREUR championships beating out Morris Eason in 1/2 finals [I lost to Morris in the 1/4].
To get to USAREUR, I had to win the V Corp.

^ ^ Eason is reputed to have taken "win" from Ray (BoomBoom) Mancini as amateur. & he also lost very close to No.1 USA long while (139lbs) Henry Hughes. Morris is from Ohio. ["My Story" -5 min.- you tube & the tapes are Christian testimonials]. He was a pro too....but..it was a 2-0 against non-en****** [BoxRec documentation]["tough man" contests that's something else. He made world's "Top-16" I believe..]
WHEN I WAS IN GERMANY USED TO WRITE-FOR Bob Taylor's, "The Amateur Boxer" (TAB). [[[Bob is remembered for introducing Mike Tyson to-the-world along with many more! & he also published "The Diver" + "Cranberrys". And wrote at least two books. Bob's obituary from around 2000 shows a number of literature awards during his career. He is thus far "overlooked" for the Connecticut Boxing HOF. Probably belongs at the USA amateur Boxing HOF as well with the "authority" of TAB thru the years]]]
From Europe, I "introduced" both James (Bonecrusher) Smith AND David Bey [Bey contender to Larry Holmes championship]. But it would be great if somehow could "TRACK" some of the past PEOPLE. So..here's a partial list:
From my team Mainz, Germany, Roy Armour (Youngstown, Ohio)/ our 106lber who lost (twice) vs Fernando Labrador (Berlin, & USAREUR strong champ). Xavier Major -118lb-// Jerry (Red) Wiles, Tacoma, WA. 125lb ALL ARMY CHAMP. Clarence Powell -our 132lb rep- Robert Naper, -147lb- Beckley, W.Vir. (Twice did "great" in defeats vs "powerhouse"/& legend Ed Green)// Don Schumpert of St. Louis our 156 (lost vs Robert Mathis at USAREUR -ret- but....I think they are 1-1) ••where are you DON••// Doug Singleton, Detroit, our HVY-rep.// & Paul (Sugar Bear) Williams our H & LH rep. ...Jerry turned pro. Possibly Sugar Bear turned pro.
Emilio Amantine ("Panama Canal Kid") was later member of the First brigade/Mainz community boxing program and "big time USAREUR and ARMY star. 'm /165' won ALL ARMY & INTERSERVICE and, unless I'm mistaken went onto No.1 rating world/amateur.
William (Willie) Robinson our COACH [Miami, FL.]
Others I would truly like to KNOW 'word', Baumholder's team: James Dancy(132lb/we fought when James started out/139lbs), James Dingle (132/125 is 1-1 vs Howard Davis and from Albany area NY), Jesse Mazek (SP? "Novice" star.... 156lb.), Arturo Pierce Jr. -fabulous record- from Cleveland, Ohio. -156lb- ALL ARMY 156lb Runner-up to Clayton Hires. Jesse Irving COACH at Baumholder (personal friend). Coach Irving from TEXAS.
Carlos Diaz (lost decision vs Ed Green), 147lb Frankfurt medical Company.
My ex opponent LEONARD DUNN. [Sugar Ray Leonard SAYING "HELLO"!]//my ex opponent ("good guy"/ & --my worse ever loss, ha ha..so many "years have passed"/I can LAUGH!-- --ROBERT WALLACE--)
Would love to read news of the Ex- top three stars of GERMANY: Rene Weller (lightweight)/ Ernst Muller (147lb)/Peter Hussing [H] -cont-

Here is Spider. He was a pretty good fighter, made it to # 3 in the world when the ranking meant much more.

As a little kid on your daddy's lap watching the fights on TV, a name like Spider Webb is one you remember. I am glad to finally learn he was more than an empty name. Don't know if there is any footage of him on YouTube. Guess I will find out.

And apparently the Spider is still alive, well into his eighties. Go spider! This is your shout out. You were there. You beat the likes of Boyd and Mims and Downs and Tiger and Giardello. You were a world class fighter.

I've spoke with Emilio Amantine over the past one year. Legend Amateur middleweight and formerly #1 world rated (when the middleweight division for amateur was still a 165lb set. WHAT GANG WAS ABLE TO REWIRE THE ENTIRE AMATEUR WEIGHT SETS? I think that it had adverse effect because it jangled the history connection. WHY? HOW? Worse: WHO?).
Emilio moved up to HVYwt. for his LAST fight. Very close and controversial Decision loss against Ray Mercer prior to the Gold medal Olympic gain.
