nothing overrated about it. hell,,,,he won the title at 45 when he was a shell of himself and only lost to an awckward jimmy young and ali in his prime after 47 fights. foreman was a beast and deserves much credit

I have watched Foreman vs Young many times and every time i have Foreman winning.. Yet watching Morrison vs Foreman, i feel that Foreman has been masterful his whole career, by choosing weak opponents to pad his resume. Otherwise he would have a dozen or more points defeats, just like the Morrison loss. To stand in front of Foreman and fight, is suicidal, like Frazier, Norton & Cooney found out. But to box and move like, Ali, Morrison, Holyfield & Alex Stewart showed. it then becomes an easy fight.. is Foreman overrated ~ in ATG Top 10 terms, yes i think he is overrated.

          -Olympic gold medalist
          -Stoppage win over Chuvalo
-win over veteran Peralta at an early stage

-Classic comeback win over ATG-puncher Ron Lyle
          -Stewart
-Comeback KO over Moorer-still the record holder of oldest HW champ

And most of his losses were against All Time Greats or solid title holders.
See I can't get all excited about the Chuvalo, Peralta & Stewart W's & that drastically cuts into his accomplishments. And thats not to say they aren't impressive names or W's, but when we are speculating on ATG or ATG HW rankings I feel even mentioning those names says a lot about Foreman's overall resume depth & not good things. But again I think his fairy tale-like comeback after a decade hiatus is very impressive so he makes up for the lack of quality W's with this successful 2nd career that is such a unusual thing in boxing.

Wouldn't the Young fight contradict your assertion? assuming one thinks foreman won that fight.

His win over Chuvalo alone is probably on par or better than any of Wladimir and Vitali's best wins, and that's one of his least important W's. That's the gap between Foreman and a top 15-20 all time HW. It's hard not to rank Foreman very high when you look at his biggest accomplishments. I also forgot to mention that he has one of the highest KO % of all HW's too.

What probably hurts Foreman the most is that he never had a significant time period where he was the absolute best and had a reign. but it's forgivable because his prime was in the golden age.

Hes definatly overatted,he ducked several guys, and if he had fought Holmes I think it weakens it even further because I see him losing that match.i also didn't see where he beat young had he got the decision win,he was out boxed and outmaneuvered,he fought smarter and if he fought ali like he did young he may have won because he took his time? However as it stands..i would say hes overatted.Had it not been for the Moorer win he would not get as much credit on his resume.

Overrated doesn't mean bad it means you are labled higher than you were,i think everyone confuses that!
