These two fights could have happened when they were all in their primes but never did for several reasons. Which one meant more for heavyweight boxing history and is a bigger loss that it didn't happen? Also while we're at it how do you think it would've gone down? (Foreman vs Holmes in late 70s-early80s, Lewis vs Bowe early to mid 90s).

Bigger loss to HW Boxing: Lewis-bowe or Holmes-Foreman

Holmes-foreman, the timing never seemed to be right until the 90s when both fighters were past prime..
Bowe-lewis was a much bigger deal because the timing was perfect in early 90s.. This would have been like if frazier never defended vs big george and instead threw the belt into the garbage can.. Hard to fathom frazier or any of the 70s champs doing that, but that's exactly what happened in Bowe-lewis..
I also think bowe-lewis was one of the major factors in why boxing declined dramatically in popularity in America. It was around this time, that the tyson prison episode, bowe-lewis, the bad decision in pernell-chavez, fan man, splintering of titles, and major fights being off network TV all factored together, slowly took boxing from mainstream to niche sport

Holmes vs Foreman is the more interesting fight to me. Love Bowe & Lewis & them not getting in the ring was a L for boxing. I just think Holmes vs Foreman woulda been a trilogy & mighta made Holmes more than what he ended up if he had a W or two over Foreman.

I think lewis-bowe is a much more exciting showdown as both are very similar in style, size and skills..
To each his own I guess

Bowe-Lewis for me. That fight could have changed how we view several guys from the current era historically and both guys were prime.
Larry Holmes started peaking after Foreman lost to Jimmy Young and was exiting the sport (in my opinion.) Before that he wouldn't have been ready for Big George.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 08-17-2015, 07:17 PM.

Lewis and Bowe already fought in ameteurs and I don't think the fight would have been all that different in the pro ranks.. So that leaves Holmes Foreman but unfortunately George wanted no part of Larry cause he would not have beaten him in any era..

Foreman vs Holmes could only have happened in the 1990s when both fighters were well past their prime. Holmes would most likely have won... Lewis vs Bowe could have happened twice, 1993 and 1995 with each fighter responsible for it not taking place...In my opinion Rid**** Bowe would have won in 1993 and Lewis in 1995

i think both were fights that could have happened. I vote for lennox/bowe as both guys were near there primes when the fights ******ly did not happen. Lewis I believe won his gold medal from bowe so a pro match would have been desirable and extremely competitive. Foreman Holmes should have happened as well but while George was on hiatus. Very good topic
