Thompson was deadly inside the ring (literally, two opponents of his died). Hector was tough and he was world class. There have been many very good aboriginal fighters especially Dave Sands but Jack Hassen was a lightweight who could have been world champion until he killed an opponent inside the ring which not only destroyed his career but his own life. Jack had it all, speed power, class, chin and tall for a lightweight, Jack left many lying flat on the canvas in the 40's (or 50's). George Bracken was also top class and was Lionel Rose's childhood hero. I am trying to think of one guys name who fought McGoorty, and other top middleweights and welterweights who was a gigantic puncher but it will come to me. last but far from least was the terrifying middleweight terror Ron Richard's who once floored Archie Moore in the first round. Moore won the fight but remarked that Richards fists were like nitro.
