I'm not gonna attempt my own top 20 p4p list cos it's just too hard! But I do want to ask whether anyone would consider Billy Conn for their lists? I believe he has one of the great boxing resumes, but one that is somewhat underrated.

He is near universally recognised as a top 10 all time light heavy but his middleweight resume is almost as impressive. In fact you could easily describe him as an uncrowned champion as he twice beat the reigning champ Apostilli in non-title bouts.

I have him ranked as a top 15 all time middleweight and a top 10 all time light heavyweight. This plus his decent run at heavyweight makes me think he is well worthy of a top 20 p4p fighter.

    What do you guys think?

I think Taylor, Camacho, Rosario, Haugen, Mayweather, Miranda, Ramirez etc were very solid wins and some would be better than a lot of Roy Jones' better wins.

I would agree that Chavez probably fought more below-par opposition, but he also fought much more often than Jones.

I don't think Roy Jones is top 20. But I did shamefully leave out Ezzard Charles who would have been in my top 5.
Most of those wins are the same calibur as Griffin, Hill, Tarver, Ruiz etc

Then he has Toney which is obviously better than anything Chavez did. And then Hopkins aswell.

I don't see how Chavez, Mayweather, Pacquaio etc are Top 20 and Conn not be,.

His resume is clearly much better than all three of those.

Or you're an obvious fanboy who doesn't understand popularity doesn't equal skillset and resume. You're acting like any Floyd fan on here who gets butthurt when people don't think he's the best of the modern era. Please sit down and shut up.

I judge Ali harder than any other fighter, because of the fact people get lost in popularity = skills. He had so many flaws in his game it's ridiculous. And yes, his resume is awesome, but in my opinion I think other fighters fought tougher competition overall. I even said I just went off of skilled guys off the top of my head and no boxing doesn't equal Ali to me. It's Joe Louis.

I think they are quite clearly a level above than some of those. Especially as the first Tarver win was disputed, and it wasn't even a particularly good win.

Neither of those three are in the top 20.

You also once said Ali had no left hook. Your credibility on the subject of Ali ended right there.

How is Tarver not a good win?

And some of those definitely are no better than those.

You have Chavez #13 on your list in this very thread.

OK it was a good win. But nothing more than that. Let's not forget that Roy was expected to win by a countrymile and struggled. He was supposed to just turn up and collect his money and Tarver's belts. I believe he was a 5-1 favourite.

I meant Conn, Pacquiao and Mayweather.
