    julio chavez sr

What do you think of his accomplishment's? I had the pleasure of seeing him fight live and was impressed. He seemed to fight anyone of importance during his time active.

The best Mexican fighter ever, in terms of resume and accomplishments.

Which says a lot given that country's rich boxing history.

I can remember the clinical way he broke down Andy Holligan in just five rounds.

Chavez was so supreme and brilliant that he let Holligan (who could really dig) come right at him for the first few rounds, just blocking punches, seeing what Holligan had to offer and waiting for the moment to throw his own shots.

Holligan was a fighter I used to follow; he was a properly strong light-welter, very heavy-handed, aggressive and undefeated when he faced Chavez. He was also five years younger than JC.

He went to Mexico to win and was in incredible shape and set a high-tempo designed to take JC out of his comfort zone. Andy was a proper, teak-tough Merseyside fighting man who had the balls to go right at the JC legend.

But when Chavez hit the accelerator in the fourth Andy had no answers whatsoever and by the end of the fifth round, having hit Holligan to the body and head with everything he threw, the fight was over.

What I mainly recall about that fight was the way Chavez knew how to smother every shot Holligan threw, never wasted any energy and when he chose to start landing his own shots they all landed right on the button. Chavez was the ultimate pressure fighter who knew how to fight smart.

Within just two rounds of work a seriously tough, fired-up challenger was finished with.

jc superstar was a mf. p4p ppv sub-heavyweight of his day. seemed to increase his power up to 140. generally cleaned out 3 divisions, didn't just get a belt and jump to another division and how he fought was very entertaing. fought a wild swingin Korean cat once who came out hackin away like sweeny todd n made chavezback up but then chavez calmly gathered himself and gutted the challenger with a couple body shots. just check his record, whupped everyone up til pernell. close call with lockridge tho.

Also beat Roger Mayweather, if I remember correctly, a corner stoppage. And beat Greg Haugen, who came out to Born in the USA in Mexico haha.
