    I really don't get these "top 10 P4P lists".

People having Sugar Ray Robinson as the best fighter of all time. But it is a myth since that is a mythical list.

SRR is not the best fighter of all time. Put prime SRR in with prime Joe Louis; SRR will need a shoehorn to put his hat on after the fight. Joe would dominate Ray. Too strong, too big, plus those fast combos (for a heavy) to go with the power. There is a very good chance Joe would get the knockout.

So therefore, SRR can't be the best fighter of all time. The Heavyweights are king, and tower above all below them.

You really don't get them do you ?, the whole point in a p4p list is too eliminate size and rank based on skills and opposition, hence 'pound for pound'.

Ray might not beat Joe head too head if they were too somehow meet, but bring Joe down too Robinson's size or Robinson up to Joe's size and what happens ?, all I see p4p lists as really is a bit of fun and something to talk about, as you said they're just fantasy.

The concept of p4p has already been set clear in this thread so not gonna bother with that but i thought id throw in that Joe is right up there in the p4p sense too. Not better than Ray who i rate as the best that ever did it but a top p4p guy no question.

I like these lists they are good fun. Mythical and subjective though they may be. Id also add that id like to see more champions stay around to dominate their weight class rather than chase p4p status but then it does help get some tasty matches made at times too i guess..

SRR is classified as the P4P best, but not the actual best.

That is what I am trying to put across.

This is from the RING in 1999

"There are discussions about Roy Jones vs Delahoya in regards to top placement but Oscar never stopped bombing until he got the KO against a top welter and Jones toyed with his opponent en route to a ho hum decision, its about maximizing your tools to their best ability, and Delahoya is in his 4th weight class doing it"

on p4p, I rememeber reading somewhere an old timer making a case for joe gans and not srr being the top p4p. I never seen any of gans but just from the comparison u know he musta been a mf. p4p just a fun discussion type thing for boxin fools like us. from one of Richard pryor's old bits, ''oh! u don't fck with da sugar! man, sugar fight so good make your dck hard!'' onliest thing different with us now, we aint in the barber shop, diner or corner bar. we can do it right from any pc terminal/laptop. what a time we live in huh
