Again, supposing they let Ellis bring a gun to the ring against Joe, yes things would be different.

The title would probably change hands a few times before someone meets up with Ali. Maybe to Chuvalo and then back to Frazier.

Ultimately not a lot would change. Frazier and Ali were the ATG fighters in the division, the belt would end up with one of them 9 times out of 10.

Well, that is assuming Ellis only wounded Joe when he shot him to win the title.
