there never used to be all these little weight classes, people act like this incremental jumps in weight mean someone will be far to weak for that division.
You don't know how much weight someone is cutting.
Boxers frequently spar with other boxers in different weight classes.
If someone weighs 140 lbs and another weighs 150, believe me that won't be the deciding factor unless they both happen to be brawlers with equal skill and heart. which rarely happens.
That's why David Haye didn't get Koed by Wladmir, even though he gave up all that weight. He never got cracked on the chin.
Buster Mathis got walked down by Joe Frazier.
Pacquiao busted up Margarito.
to much of boxing depends on timing, speed, accuracy.
What about proportions? What if the guy has a naturally thicker trunk but everything else is skinnier?
Look at Pacquiaos upperbody at 126? all of his weight was in his legs so why didn't this guy get his ribs smashed in. He looked malnourished at times and if he had slim legs he'd be a jr bantamm weight.
just some food for though, and coming from someone whose sparred a lot.
