There's always the possibility of Hearns knocking out Hagler (ANYONE CAN GET KNOCKED OUT, and Hearns has a LETHAL right hand).
But I only see him doing that in about 1/7 fights or so, even though hearns has so much power.

no man alive could take hearns sunday punches from 147 to 160 for 12 rounds (or 15 for that matter)

so of course the answer is yes

hagler was wobbled early in that fight
clearly the potential for victory is realized in that

he could hurt hagler, or any other MW who ever lived for that matter

but he didn't, and likely wouldn't if they fought that same fight over and over again

hagler tucked his chin as well as any man i can remember, which is key for getting away from a long right hand. they really cant see a target from height like that if you tuck your chin well, and the punches land high on the head

and haggler could take the punches from hearns high on the head, he proved that
so i don't think it's likely that hearns would getthat stoppage

and haggler proved that he could back hearns up to the point where he could stop him from boxing and being effective (you cannot box while you are running or moving away without attempting to box and keep and offensive stance, presentation, and posture)

so it's not likely that hearns would do well trying to box

so the odds stack against him

          but yes
no mad alive could take those punches flush on the chin for 15 rounds
not one that has to weigh in at 147-160 lbs

Hagler wanted 20m in purse money and it was after Leonard vs Hearns II. So Hagler would come out of a few years of retirement and Leonard wasn't exactly a huge draw anymore either, whoever supplied that kind of purse to Hagler would have lost money on the fight. It was obviously Hagler just saying "I'm not coming out of retirement."

              No, I don't think so.

He isn't knocking him out and I can't see Hearns going the full 15 without being stopped.

Hearns, at 160, would not be able to wear Hagler down over 15 rounds.

Hmmm, I don't agree with that. Hearns is really the only fighter to have ever truly hurt and staggered Hagler properly. I'm not sure it was about that though anyway. It was that both were willing to go to war and try to kill each other straight away. Hearns lost that fight. Hagler rarely fought that way. It was an aberration that he came out the way he did and Hearns was all too willing to go along with it. If Hearns hadn't been so amped up from knocking out Duran in 2 just previous, i think he would have been more himself and not been so carried away with the Hitman persona back again. Basing your entire pre-fight strategy on a KO in 3 round against Hagler is not the way to win and that shot Hearns in the foot from the get-go. Hagler could be drawn into a chess-match easily, just as Hearns could be drawn into a war. In the war, Hagler has the upperhand while in the chessmatch, Hearns, I believe, has the upperhand. We shall never know though.

Hearns had the ability to beat anyone, IMO, at his best. He just fought the wrong fight too often. As GJC said, he bought into his Hitman persona too much and it was at an all time high going into the Hagler fight. He should have known that Hagler's history had showed that he wasn't going to be knocked out. Duran was a foot shorter with a foot less reach and a natural lightweight. Despite that, it was still a scary feat to KO him, but Hagler was a real middleweight. If Duran had been a natural middleweight at his prime, he wouldn't have been knocked out, to say the least.

I think he could have. As to whether he would have, well, that's another side of it. I'm just glad they did fight like that, because it gave us one of the great wars ever.
