    Opinions on James Degale

Obviously not a historical question, but most of the best posters are in here and wouldnt see it if i put it in NSB.

Obviously its early in his career, but what do you like/dislike about James?

The guy can fight, his defence is very neat, has good reflexes and speed, decent to good pop in his shots and is a good size for a SMW. He will do well IMO

Groves DESERVED the win on saturday, even tho he backed up all night he seemed like he put more into it than James, George was the worthy winner but i came away with the sense the better fighter had lost. James was dissapointing in that he didnt let his hands go enough or gamble like he needed to. GG is a very good fighter in his own right tho

I like Chunky and Groves so i was neutral on the fight (mabey slightly on George's side) and i think they will go at it again in the future when Groves has come unstuck and DeGale is making an impact on the world stage.

James isnt usually the type of fighter i like outside the ring but i have found him amusing and he does have star quality

looked to be the better fighter against groves but he managed to lose

he needed to throw more punches
          a bunch of them
he could have easily won that decision. he would have won that decision had he thrown more

groves is a good kid, but i was expecting him to come forward, as he had in the few fights i have seen him in as a pro.
he's not going to get far with the style he brought to the fight saturday, not to take away from a great win
he just doesn't have the talent for sustaining his style saturday against better opposition. there are far superior "cuties" at 168, with real foot and handspeed and much better skills, and punching power

it was a great fight for the last few rounds, considering the stakes and competitiveness on the cards
but neither man is remotely close to the "world level,"
and they're not oozing talent to say the least

All that Daft chat about Chunky being better than Ward, Kessler ect ALREADY looks totally laughable now if it didnt be The guy has skills tho, he will do ok. Groves i agree cant fight the top guys in that style, i felt like he was boxing out of his skin and still JUST pulled it off against a placid DeGale, he will struggle with his more aggressive style of norm too tho as he dont have much of a chin imo

I think he should learn his craft better before he starts running his mouth about accomplished fighters like Ward.

As far as i know that was just bias brits and nutthugging fans that have been spitting that crap, the well respected Dwiens said he'd take Chunky over them all right now too tho. Im not saying ur wrong, he IS arrogant enough to believe that but i havent heard him say it myself

that's definitely a fight i'm looking forward to seeing at least once more down the road

hell, they could make an oldschool rivalry of it and fight more than twice

that fight and build up was great TV, especially the final rounds

i believe the second fight will be more of a round 13 than anything, and they will pick up where they left off (trading)
