Sam Langford - what weight do you think Langford should be judged... he set off at lightweight and fought rite up to heavyweight..i personally rate him as being a heavyweight

I'd definitely rate him as a heavyweight. He fought over 175 for many years, and even before that he was mostly competing with the big guys.

Great record at a multitude of weights but I like him at MW best

Its hard to peg Langford at any particular weight because 1. he never won a title at any. 2. As fans we didn't get to watch his career unfold as a whole. 3. Many of his bouts he or his opponent were over the weight limit of the class they were fighting in (see the Gans fight as an example). all and all I'd have to lable him as a heavyweight where he clearly won his most notable fights in my opinion and most deservedly earned (with out getting) a title shot. Jmo.
