I've seen Tyson throw 5 punches in or around the 1 second mark, yet Ali's were pretty swift and nimble as well. Who was quicker?

Ali didn't really load up on his punches. They were smooth, generated with natural body movement. Tyson loaded his punches to the max. punch for punch, they were much harder than Ali's. That reduces speed overall.
More appropriate comparison would be Tyson to Patterson, as they were trained to fight the same way. Patterson had faster hands, but was also much smaller and less powerful.

The question was who has better handspeed. Not who loaded more power, who had more power in their combos. Ali had better handspeed and that's including his power punches.

Why don't you try being original and actually give some useful evidence? I was simply providing the parallel example that Tyson fans tend to point to, and despite your criticism of it being shadowboxing, he is throwing the punches with fight intensity. Personally I think Ali was probably faster which should be no surprise given his style - he threw 90% straight punches and stayed on his toes, not loading up on shots.
