there was a fantasy fight with him and someone else the other day. i don't remember who it was against, but i picked charley.

i remember reading about some old historian referring to roy jones as "not a pimple on charley burley's ass" and it made me laugh. charley really was the man though.

That video is a load of rubbish, its someone trying to brainwash others into believing they are an expert on the art of boxing, what is obviously clear to all is how slow Charley Burley is, how he cannot throw combinations and of how slow he is on his feet, to claim that Roy Jones would not deal with a fighter like Burley is laughable, in his prime at super-middleweight Roy Jones was so fast that slow-motion cameras could barely catch his punches, Jones virtually never lost a single round of boxing in his first 10yrs as a pro, his defence and offence was so good that Jones was talked about as being the greatest fighter who ever lived, now all respect to Charley Burley but he simply was not in the same league as Roy Jones, Burley lost to the elite fighters who he fought, beating Archie Moore does not make him odds-on to beat Roy Jones, Moore was like a man in slow-motion compaired to Jones.. some people buy a book read it about Burley, murders row etc etc then come onto this forum and try to impose that theory they have built up in their head onto others on here by claiming every fighter in the IBHOF was a load of ****e and that they avoided him and him, and him which is all a figment of their ****** imagination

he was great in his day though, without him there is no RJJ or Bhop.

Roy jones in his prime though, was the closest thing I've seen to being unbeatable.

i agree with you in that Burley was a great fighter in his day, an exceptionally good fighter who should and could have achieved far more than he did but due to the racism of that period he was prevented from achieving his just rewards.. There is only very limited footage available of Burley and several other black fighters of that era yet i put that down to them simply not being good enough in the eyes of the boxing public, cameras were available in the 40s and we even have footage from 40yrs previous to when Charley Burley and Co. was campaigning.

i agree that Roy Jones was the closest thing to unbeatable i have also ever seen.
