Hopkins could not. All the others could. Please don't put that con artist among the other greats!

All the middleweights would have their share of trouble with Toney but I felt he was too inconsistent and at times drained himself to make weight at 160.

He was better off at 168 and at his best would have beaten Calzaghe in my opinion.

Toney had lost his motivation by the time he went up to 175. All the names mentioned would beat Toney in my opinion.

The best version of James Toney would never be an easy fight for anyone

Indeed. Best version would beat the large majority of fighters in history and be a handful for all at each division apart from HW and maybe CW.

Even that is debatable after the showing he put on against Jirov. He was a big genuine CW and Toney put the beatin' on him something good.

Amazing fighter. Lacked discipline and proper training but at his best could have beaten all but maybe the LHW's on that list. I say could have because I think he would have trouble at MW against a guy like Monzon especially, who was difficult to counter against well and would work you for fifteen hard rounds.

He was best as a 168 and could have beaten Calzaghe on his best night, but that could still be a pick 'em fight too. Either way, the guys a bloody genius of a fighter and would, at the least, give hell to anyone on that list at his best, if not beat them.

I don't ike matching up fighters from different eras, that being said, Toney would have excelled in any era. He was one of the best defensive fighters I have ever seen, and between 160-168 pounds, had a devastating right hand and a high boxing IQ. Toney is one of my all-time favorite fighters. When motivated,a special fighter

Toney at his best probably beats Hopkins at his best, but it would not be an easy night for Lights Out.

A real enigma & certainly one of the true characters of the game who irrespective of his conditioning never doubted his own ability.
Had he developed the same mindset for training, and stayed a tadge more active, I have absolutely no doubt, he'd have eclipsed the achievements of RJJ..
