    Foreman - Moorer 1994

    Foreman- Moorer 1994

K so I was just rewatching hilights of this fight. Jim Lampley expressed that George had advanced ring intelligence, to be able to set up that knockout on the man 19 years his younger. Teddy was reminding Moorer all fight, but after the ko I was watching , with the volume off I could swear I read Teddy's lips "see that's what happens", if I'm wrong do me a favor and correct me lol. I read in the atlas book that the punch ripped a hole right through MM's mouthpiece. Whoever said power was the last thing to go was talking about Foreman. Boy did he look huge in that fight. With all kidding aside, Michael told teddy after the fight "If I had survived that last round they would be making Michael Moorer grills" lol. For his efforts, Michael bought teddy a nice sportscar (it specifies in the novel) but at the same time in that era funny stuff was happening. For example teddy was getting tucked off by Foreman's behaviour trying to get a rise out of him. Foreman later went on to say that the difference between old surly George vs new lovable George was that new George was worse, he was too fake, too obsessed with his image. He deserves some credit though, outside of the ring he became a minister and also named all his kids George just to make sure he wouldn't forget their name lol. Why mince words haha? During that time it was dually noted that Michael and teddy were devoutly favoring to fight Tyson instead of Holyfield because in atlas world "Evander was the better opponent." Can you believe if Moorer fought Tyson? That would have been huge!!! I know teddy doesn't get much praise in the boxing community he only trained people who were up at a high echelon already such as Moorer, Elvir muriqui, Bradley, Povetkin, but he had some credit for working with a raw Mike Tyson. Whatever you may think, regardless he was always down for an awesome soundbite! Him and Stephen a Smith should be banned from tv how real it gets when those two argue over boxing lol. Both are extremely intense till the colour of red appears in their face, passion. It makes good tv but maybe not so good to the networks. I.e. they don't share the same values, IMO that's why they fired him. But anyway does anyone else have fond memories of Moorer vs Foreman? What about Holyfield vs Foreman? Or potentially Tyson vs Moorer???

On another note I believe in the same book, teddy was out with Shannon Briggs one night and they got into a brawl as someone badmouthed the champ from Brooklyn. Teddy was loyal to a tee. Also I forgot to mention Foreman the commentator:" the ref is the most important person in the ring except for the 2 fighters." Also "put that down son if you know what's best for you." He alluded during the golota bowe riot as some punk teen tried to lift up a table and toss it. He protected Lampley and Larry as well, as the teenager wouldn't dare step to George.

George Foreman, David Letterman s favorite heavyweight. What would boxing be without big George? And what about Moorer the southpaw champ?

The best thing about that fight was Teddy's antics in the corner between rounds.

Saw some club fight on USA (Sports Network) back in the 1980s. The second was pulling the same Atlas nonsense on his fighter. After three or four rounds of these antics the fighter commonly told the second/trainer not to come back to his corner after the next round.

The big mouth suddenly changed his tune and started speaking with respect to his guy.

Atlas is what they use to call a "showboat" back in the 1940s. Always trying to increase his importance to the fight with exasperation.

          - - TeddyBoy just frustrated because he can't find his email he was gonna show that Manny used drugs.

He wasn't long with Cus before he was booted after the gun episode and now acts like he was integral to Mike success.

I remember when he wanted to trade places with Moorer after a bad round.

I saw this fight when it happened, but not since, except the KO many times. Was the fight on the whole actually any good? Or was it just the late drama? Nash out
