    Your take on Bert Sugar?

My knowledge about Bert Sugar is limited, he's supposed to be a legend commentary in the art of boxing. What do you think of the guy? Do you agree with his predictions?

Also I know he has been writing a lot of books on the art of boxing, anyone read'em?

I don't really care much for him. He tries to be flamboyant and has that schtick with the cigar and all, but he largely annoys me.

Yeah he knows a lot, but says a lot of strange things as well. I'm much more of a fan of the late Jack Newfield, who could make great points with his knowledge without the cliches and schtick.

Bert Sugar also was the editor of Boxing Illustrated when he was caught plagarizing, and the mag went under.

I heard he's an azzhole too.

i think hes a legend lol

his book (boxings greatest fighters) is a great book, even though i didnt agree with some of the decisions, as he seems to favour boxers from the older generation rather than after 1970. He definitely knows his stuff though

Excitable, often presents misinformation as fact, highly concerned with the image he puts across even if it means repeating the same "witticisms" over and over ad nauseum. But he does clearly love the sport.

I do not like the guy at all and find that I rarely agree with his take on things.

He knows his stuff, but I think he likes to use big words and wild comparisons that don't really make any sense like he is trying to confuse people to make them think he knows even more.

He knows boxing i give him that, but he's extremely biased towards fighters of the past. He's said some of the most extreme things i ever heard. I've also exposed him as a hypocrite on many occasions.

Jack Newfield, Bud Schulberg, Thomas Hauser all **** on Bert Sweet'n Low
