The Benitez Highlight focused too much on Benitez punching and not enough on Benitez making people miss.

A Whitaker highlight is not complete without a display of his defence, neither is a Benitez highlight.

I agree but those fights weren't Benitez' most defensive displays.

17 year old Benitez made Cervantes miss a lot but he wasn't fighting off the ropes at that point of his career, he moved more without slowing down or taking breaks.

Guerrero used the ropes and the shoulder roll to avoid punishment so Benitez had to be aggressive, displayed handspeed and ability not to get hit while on the offensive at age 18.
5:20-5:50 is the best part of the fight.

The Palomino fight was the first time Benitez used the ropes to counter against a world class opponent and was successful doing it.
The quality of the video isn't good though, I should've used a better version.

The Leonard fight was Benitez' first loss and he took it well.
He looked asleep before the first flash knockdown but started to outbox Leonard after it. Leonard took control after Benitez was cut by a headbutt.

The stoppage at the end was ridiculous but the fight was Leonard's at that point.

Part 2 has the Maurice Hope fight, Benitez gave away rounds early but solved Hope's southpaw style, landed a lot of lead rights, beat up Hope off the ropes and finished with a devastating KO, the Duran fight which was basically a display of Benitez' quick lead right and the Hearns fight in which Benitez made Hearns miss but couldn't counter effectively enough.

I just love how Benitez makes you miss by hair. Tommy Hearns had him on the ropes, throws everything he's got and hits nothing but air.

Not the most graceful defense, but it worked.

Not sure if I'll make a part 2 but it would include Joe Louis and the champions after him until the 70's.
