MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Floyd "Money" Mayweather (44-0, 26KOs) retained his WBC welterweight championship with a twelve round unanimous decision over mandatory challenger Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (31-2-1, 18KOs). All three judges saw it 117-111. Mayweather may have appeared to lose a step in his previous win over Miguel Cotto, but his reflexes looked like a million bucks against Guerrero.

The first two rounds were close. Mayweather started sharpshooting with accurate punches in the third. Mayweather continued to pick his shots in the fourth, with Guerrero having a moment of success when he got the champion against the ropes. Guerrero had trouble dealing with Mayweather's movement, elusive defense and rapid foot speed. In the eight, Mayweather put on a clinic. He tagged Guerrero at will, landing several hard shots to the head and body that had him in trouble. And, he cut Guerrero above his left eye.

Mayweather was countering at will in the ninth and making Guerrero miss his punches.The tenth was more of the same, although Guerrero managed to minimize the hit parade. He couldn't do the same in the eleventh, where Mayweather landed several hard punches.  Mayweather used his legs in the twelfth and coasted for most of the three minutes as Guerrero gave chase.
