Memphis, Tenn. - Prize Fight Promotions announced Thursday the latest installment of their “Fights at the Fitz” series, an action-packed six-bout card set for this Saturday, November 22nd, at the Fitzgerald Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi.
The “Fights at the Fitz” boxing series has proven to be immensely popular with local fans, as indicated by the standing-room only crowds at every show.
Undefeated lightweight prospect Mark Davis (9-0, 4 KO) of Cleveland, OH headlines the card, as he meets his toughest opponent to date in Roberto Astacio (7-2) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In his last fight at the Fitz, the aforementioned fast-handed Davis left opponent Carl McNickols knocked out cold in the 4th round of their scheduled 6-round lightweight bout that left fans on standing on their feet. Davis has quickly emerged as a fan favorite at the Fitz, with all but two of his pro fights taking place at the casino.
Also scheduled on the card in a six-round Super Middleweight bout is heavy-handed Farah Ennis (7-0, 4 KO), who takes on Terrance Smith of Joplin, MO.
In an exciting four round female junior welterweight scrap, Kita Watkins of Little Rock, Arkansas will battle against Lisa Bolin of Columbia, South Carolina. Both women are aggressive fighters, with Watkins having wowed the crowd in her last appearance at the Fitz last September.
Fresh off of his explosive second round knockout last weekend in Nashville, Fernando Guerrero (11-0, 10 KO) is ready for more, as he battles Ernesto Zamora (16-16, 10 KO) of Somora, Mexico in a middleweight bout scheduled for four rounds or less.
In the opening bout of the evening, 21-year old Shawn Porter of Akron, Ohio (2-0, 2 KO) opposes veteran Phillip Hammac in a 4-round Middleweight match. Porter is one of the more celebrated amateur fighters in recent history, amassing a record of 263-16 and earning a spot as an alternate on the 2008 US Olympic Boxing squad.
Rounding out the card will be a veteran heavyweight bout. Fight fans can expect a significant amount of leather to be exchanged between comebacking Keith McKnight of Nashville, TN and Samuel Brown of Fort Campbell, KY.
Tickets are available for purchase at the Fitz’s gift shop priced at $35. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the first fight at 7:30 p.m. For tickets call Ticketmaster at (901) 525-1515, the Fitz Casino at (800) 766-5825 or Prize Fight Promotions (662) 349-6263.
