Triple world champion Fernando 'Kochul' Montiel confessed that he wants to continue fighting, after suffering a vicious first round knockout at the hands of Jorge Lara on April 30th.

Although no date has been set for his return, the Mexican veteran said he was confident to be back before the end of the year.

Montiel, 37-years-old, lost his last two fights, one on points to current IBF featherweight king Lee Selby and the other against Lara, by knockout. Currently he holds a very respectable record of 54-6-2 and 39 knockouts. However, he does not feel it the ideal time to walk away from the sport, or at least walk away on the back of a loss like this.

"I have no plans yet [to retire from boxing]. I'd like to fight again to prove myself, but I'm not in a hurry. I am calm, enjoying my family and exercising. Right now I'm only working with weights in the gym," shared Montiel in an interview with ESPN Deportes.

"I have to think about things a little more and look at the opportunities. I don't want to go out on that kind of loss...it would be uncomfortable I'll look for another fight. I'm a people who understand boxing, the sport gives and it takes away."

Because of Montiel's record and list of world title accomplishments. The fighter will likely remain in high demand, especially by contenders who are looking to add a very valuable name to their list of in-ring accomplishments.
