Bethlehem, PA-- Donovan Dennis and Andrey Fedosov only needed a combined 10 rounds to advance to the ESPN2 Boxcino Heavyweight finals. Knockout wins paved the way for the heavyweights to meet in late May to claim top honors in the heavyweight bracket.
Dennis will undoubtedly make the highlight reel with his performance, scoring a one-punch 2nd round knockout of Razvan Cojanu in their semifinal matchup.
The fight came to a sudden ending early in round two, when Dennis unloaded with a corker of a left hand. Cojanu was flattened upon impact, never coming close to beating the count as he was sprawled out on the canvas, unaware of his surroundings as the fight was stopped.
The official ending came at 0:59 of round two.
Dennis moves to 12-1 (10KOs) with the win, coming on the heels of a 4th round stoppage of unretired and previously unbeaten Steve Vukosa in February to advance to this round. Overall, Dennis has won three straight following the lone loss of his career.
The fighting pride of Davenport, Iowa - words not spoken since the heyday of former middleweight king Michael Nunn - will now go on to face Fedosov in the finals on May 22.
Fedosov advanced after scoring a 3rd round knockout of Lenroy Thomas.
The heavyweight banger - managed by Vadim Kornilov, whose fighters have been on a roll as of late - was in control throughout the brief affair. A body shot paved the way for the fight ending sequence, with a flurry of power shots forcing Thomas (19-4, KOs) to the canvas.
Referee Gary Rosato issued the full ten count, with the end coming at 1:01 of round three.
Fedosov moves to 27-3 (22KOs), having scored knockouts in each of his two Boxcino preliminary bouts. The 29-year old from Russia - now based out of Hollywood, Calif. - made it to this point by stopping Nat Heaven inside of a round in the quarterfinals round in February.
Thomas, 30, snaps a three fight win streak as he falls to 19-3 (9KOs). The Jamaican heavyweight advances to the semifinals following an overtime decision win over Jason Estrada in February, taking a decision in the tiebreaking 7th round that came about when their bout was scored a draw after six rounds.
