krikya360.com has sought the opinion of 10 boxing insiders as to their thoughts on who will win Saturday night's Top Rank Promotions, Showtime pay per view clash between WBA junior middleweight titlist Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 knockouts) and Ricardo Mayorga (29-7-1, 23 kOs) that is being contested at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Miguel Cotto TKO 6 Ricardo Mayorga: Miguel Cotto by sixth round TKO. Ricardo Mayorga will be dangerous early- he always is. Then Cotto will begin finding a home with his left hand to Mayorga's bread basket that will signal the beginning of the end.
Since his wins over the late Vernon Forrest, Mayorga's come up short in the big fights, especially against hard punchers. Tito Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya landed 60 per cent of their power shots in their knockout wins over Mayorga, 20 per cent higher than the weight class average. It will come down to how much leather Mayorga wants to absorb.

Miguel Cotto KO 7 Ricardo Mayorga: Entertaining while it lasts, but Miguel Cotto gets close and unleashes his left hook, wearing down Ricardo Mayorga.

Miguel Cotto TKO 9 Ricardo Mayorga: Miguel Cotto by ninth-round TKO over Ricardo Mayorga. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Mayorga is in better shape than ever. But a good training camp doesn’t erase years of cigarettes and booze. He’s got a puncher's chance, but that punch had better land early.
If it doesn’t, Cotto will exhaust the undisciplined Mayorga for a victory that sets up a rematch with Antonio Margarito. Mayorga talks about how a possible shot at Manny Pacquiao has motivated him. Cotto never says much at all, but the loss to Margarito has to gnaw at him, especially amid lingering questions about whether Margarito’s hand wraps were legal.
Cotto can set the record straight, which means he is probably as motivated as anybody can be.

Miguel Cotto TKO 6 Ricardo Mayorga: Miguel Cotto TKO 6. Ricardo Mayorga could make it interesting for a round or two, but then it's all Cotto. This is a perfect showcase or him.
David Haye, WBA heavyweight champion
Miguel Cotto TKO 6 Ricardo Mayorga: I think that Miguel Cotto wins by a stoppage. Ricardo Mayorga will be powerful for the first couple of rounds. Mayorga will be letting his hands go and maybe letting Cotto hit him on the chin with shots. Clowning around. But when the chips are down, Cotto's body assault will slow Mayorga down.
It will be in a similar way to how Felix Trinidad dealt with Mayorga. You know, the cream always rises to the top. Mayorga's way of partying and living and smoking will catch up to him in this fight. You've got a clean-living athlete in Cotto against Mayorga. I think it will end in round five or six.

Miguel Cotto TKO 7 Ricardo Mayorga: Ricardo Mayorga has a chance because he can punch, but Miguel Cotto is an underrated boxer and will make Mayorga miss a lot. Mayorga appears to in great shape, but he'll take a beating from Cotto and will eventually succumb in the middle rounds.

Miguel Cotto TKO 5 Ricardo Mayorga: I expect a firefight in the early rounds, with Miguel Cotto getting the better of Ricardo Mayorga and scoring a knockout within five.
Michael Rosenthal, Ring TV.com
Miguel Cotto KO 10 Ricardo Mayorga: Miguel Cotto by late-round knockout. This is another example of a skillful fighter who is naturally smaller and weaker than his opponent. As usual, talent beats size and strength. Plus, Ricardo Mayorga is well over the hill. He hasn't look good in years.
Joseph Santoliquito, Ring Managing Editor
Miguel Cotto KO5 Ricardo Mayorga: Miguel Cotto has too much firepower for Ricardo Mayorga, who is fun before fights, and will bring his caveman, clubbing style to make it entertaining. But that won't last long. Cotto will chop Mayorga up and finish him early.
Tim Smith, New York Daily News
Miguel Cotto TKO 6 Ricardo Mayorga: Ricardo Mayorga hasn't had a significant victory since he beat Vernon Forrest in 2003 for the welterweight title. Miguel Cotto is coming off a rather impressive win against Yuri Foreman. And with Emanuel Steward in his corner, Cotto has gone back to the basic platform of boxing.
That will be more than enough to dominate Mayorga. Cotto by sixth round TKO.
