‘From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)’ is one of many great songs written by Bruce Springsteen and when it comes to the career of heavyweight Agit Kabayel, who beat Frank Sanchez on Saturday night, the sentiment certainly rings true. He turned pro in 2011, fighting in small shows in Germany, and in 2012 he twice participated in the Bigger is Better Tournament where he went 2-2, losing to giant Russian Evgeny Orlov and Frenchman Fabrice Aurieng. 

These fights were recorded as official professional fights by Fight Fax, the original record keepers of boxing, but BoxRec has decided to exclude them. Therefore, his "real" record should read 27-2 and not 25-0.

In 2015 Kabayel signed with SES and his career took off and now he is closing in on a major title fight.

Another prominent Bigger is Better fighter is Latvian Mairis Briedis, who participated in no less than four tournaments, winning three of them going 10-1, losing only to Croatian Ivica Bacurin.

Danish super middle Oliver Zaren (11-0) meets German Kilian Weck (5-5) on the Danish Fight Night May 25 in Copenhagen. Zaren is trained by Mikkel Kessler and Thomas Macon with Wasserman Sports as promoter.

Also on the bill is Welshman Jordan Withers (6-0) who is in against German Andreas Weber (7-0-1).

There are 10 fights in total, with the headliner being WBC and WBO female bantamweight champ Dina Thorslund (21-0) defending her titles against Seren Cetin (11-0) who, this time, is hopefully fit to fight. When she arrived in Denmark in February to fight Thorslund she had a fresh cut and the WBC pulled her out, leaving Mary Romero to step in on two days' notice and ultimately get stopped.

Birgit Johansson has passed away at the age of 88. She was engaged to the then-future world heavyweight champion Ingemar Johansson whom she accompanied when he arrived in the US to fight against Floyd Patterson and was a big hit with the media over there.

Ingemar and Brigit got married in 1962 and had two kids but split up in the early 1970s.

Finnish cruiser Samuli Karkkainen (18-2) takes on Slovakian Patrik Jervicky (2-1) on June 1 in Jarvenpaa on Eikan Fight Night IV.

In the headliner, heavyweights Gunnar Kolbeinn Kristinsson (14-0) and Mika Mielonen (7-1) clash for the vacant BBU title.

Both fights are scheduled for eight.

Spanish - though based in Finland - featherweight Jose Antonio Sanchez Romero (16-1-1) keeps busy with a six-rounder against Serbian veteran Milan Savic (4-59-3).

P2M’s show at the plush Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg (Germany) Friday night (May 17) saw Karen Chukhadzian (24-2) beat Harry Scarff (13-3) in an IBF final eliminator at welterweight. It was scored 116-112 on all cards.

In the chief support, super middle Simon Zachenhuber (24-0) beat Roberto Arriza (19-11) on points over eight and heavyweight Viktor Jurk (8-0) did the same to Mirko Tintor (16-9-1).
