The EBU has ordered an immediate rematch between newly crowned middleweight champion Anderson Prestot (25-2) from France and Italian ex-titleholder Matteo Signani (31-6-3). The deadline for purse bids is July 18,

As reported by BoxingScene, Prestot won a technical decision in the fifth round this past Saturday when the ringside physician decided the cut over his left eye was too serious for him to continue. That alone was controversial as the very same doctor said he could continue late in the fourth after a long inspection. Had the fight been stopped there the ruling would have been a technical draw and Signani would have kept the title.

However, the official protest was based on the fact that there were no doping tests before or after the fight. According to BoxeRingWeb, the Italian's team were told that there was no one available to do the testing. Team Signani thus wanted a change of the result and a No-Contest declared.

This is in accordance with the EBU rules but, and this is a big but, there is also a rule that says that if two thirds of the Council agrees they can overrule all other rules and they did and thus we go to a rematch instead.
