Lots of action in European rings (outside of Ireland and the UK) rings Saturday night and here are some of the results.
Valladolid, Spain: EBU super featherweight champ Juan Felix Gomez (13-0-1) retained the title with a majority decision over Salvador Jiminez (12-1-1) in an all-Spanish matchup. It was scored 116-112 twice and 114-114.
Fuenlabrada, Spain: French super middleweight Gustave Tamba (19-1) floored Spanish challenger Jose Luis Navarro Jr (9-2) twice in the second for a stoppage and retained the EBU Silver super middle title.
Navarro has been hailed as one of the best prospects in Spanish boxing but this was his second loss inside the distance so it's back to the drawing board.
Rietberg, Germany: IBO middleweight champion Etinosa Oliha (19-0) retained the title with a unanimous decision over Swiss challenger Faton Vukshinaj (16-1). It was scored 117-111 twice and 118-110. Oliha is Italian but is promoted by Agon Sports in Germany.
Berlin, Germany: Tom Schwarz, now campaigning at bridgerweight, stopped Christian Demaj in the headliner of Fides Sports' event at the Verti Music Hall. Schwarz is now 29-1 but there are no real "names" in the win column. Demaj is now 6-3.
Pionki, Poland: Cruiserweight Michal Soczynski (9-0) picked up the Polish and the IBO International titles by stopping Argentinian Mariano Angel Gudino (16-8) in the third round.
Charleroi, Belgium: Unheralded Swedish-Serbian cruiser Goran Babic (8-1-2) won the vacant WBC Mediterranean title after stopping Kamel Kouaouch (12-3) in the eighth round. Babic has previously challenged for both the Serbian and Swedish titles but gone 0-1-1 but he's shown steady improvement.
Gradiska, Bosnia: Croatian cruiserweight Marko Calic (15-1) stopped Mirnes Denadic (17-25-3) in the second round. Calic is promoted by Swedish Fight Life Promotion. Stablemate Paolo Magui (7-0) won by TKO over Adnan Piric (0-4-1).
