Universum staged a show at their gym Saturday but this time it was an afternoon event that was shown live on the Universum YouTube channel.

Belarus lightweight prospect Dzmitry Azanau (2-0) headlined and stopped Colombian Daniel Ibarguen (3-1-1) in the third. Azanau was an excellent amateur but the spoiling tactics from Ibarguen didn't bring out the best in him.

Argentinian super lightweight Jeremias Ponce (30-0) was supposed to have headlined but instead fought and stopped a late sub in Georgian Achiko Odikadze (23-21-2) in the third.

SES and Blin Boxing's joint venture in Bispingen, Germany, Friday night billed as "Newcomer Fight Night" ended with wins for all the newcomers. Lightweight Nenad Stancic (11-0) knocked out Hungarian veteran Szilvester Ajtai in the third and light heavy Michael Eifert (10-1) took out Gyorgy Varju in the first.

SES' next show is at home in Magdeburg on May 14 with cruiserweight Roman Fress (15-0) defending the WBO I-C title against an opponent to be announced.

There are big things to be announced in the near future from SES and that may have to do with the long awaited fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title between Agit Kabayel and Marco Huck.

German-Greek featherweight Nico Venetis (23-0) and Venezuelan Luis Nino (16-6) clash for the vacant GBC on May 13 at the Columbia Club in Berlin. In the co-feature super welterweight Mike Jaede (17-0) defends the GBC title against Georgian Paata Varduashvili (31-24-2). The show is promoted by Troja Boxing Group and sanctioned by the GBA, German Boxing Association.

Newly crowned EBU super lightweight champ Enock Poulsen (12-0) dislocated his right shoulder in the second round of his brawl against French co-challenger Franck Petitjean (23-6-3) Thursday night in Copenhagen, Denmark. The cornermen reacted quickly and fixed the problem after a short break in the action. However, can a fighter turn away from the action, go down on one knee and call for help, get it and then resume fighting? Petitjean and his team were furious after the fight and felt there should have been a count over Poulsen, others were of the opinion that as the Dane turned away from the action he effectively retired and thus was a loser on TKO while others felt it was a case for a no-contest or technical draw.

The rules don't give a clear answer and the fight resumed and we got an exciting, foul-filled bout won by Poulsen's skillful boxing on the move. Referee Guiseppe Quartarone was too passive though and Petitjean got away with a lot of not so accidental head clashes. 

The new champion now has another Frenchman, Massi Tachour (16-4), as mandatory challenger but Petitjean is likely to get another chance.

Polish middleweight Damian Jonak (42-1-2) is now 1-1-1 against Englishman Andrew Robinson (26-6-2) after Friday night's show in Bytom, Poland. Robinson won their first fight, they drew the second time and now Jonak won on scores of 78-73 twice and 77-74. In other action Stanislaw Gibadio (8-0) outscored Argertinian Mateo Damian Veron (29-29-3) in another eight rounder.

Hanna Hansen has added another chapter to her movie-like life story a few weeks ago, as she captured her first title as a professional prizefighter in only her fourth fight. On March 26, in front of thousands of fans at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany, Hansen defeated Jeanmary Martinez Paulino by technical knockout in the seventh round to win the vacant IBO Intercontinental super welterweight championship.

“It was an incredible feeling to get that belt handed over to me,“ Hansen said a few days after her victory. “It wasn’t an easy fight, but in the end, all the hard work paid off. Blood, sweat and tears. That’s how winning is done. But you can never rest after a victory, so I’ll keep on working day by day to improve and to make my dream of becoming world champion a reality soon.“

On April 22, in Verbania, Piemonte region in Italy, former Italian super middleweight champion Ivan Zucco demolished in two rounds Serbian Marko Nikolic to win the vacant WBC International title. Zucco is now 16-0 (14 KOs) while Nikolic is 28-2 (12KOs).

It was a spectacular fight with Nikolic hitting hard Zucco at the end of the first round and Zucco assaulting Nikolic at the start of second round, dropping him with a straight left to the chin and then again with a right hook to the jaw. After the second knockdown, the referee looked Nikolic into the eyes and stopped the fight.

In the main supporting bout, Mirko Natalizi (Rome, now 12-0, 7 KOs), defeated on points Rico Mueller (Germany, now 28-5-1) for the vacant WBC International Silver super welterweight championship after 10 rounds.

It’s the first title for Natalizi who is considered one of the most talented Italian fighters.  In the featherweight division, former Italian champion Francesco Grandelli (now 16-1-2) beat on points Kane Baker (UK, now 17-9-1) after 10 rounds. The fight was entertaining with Grandelli knocking down Kane in the first round and Kane returning the favor in the second round.

In the super welterweight division, talented Samuel Nmomah (now 17-0) defeated on points after 8 rounds former French champion Fouad El Massoudi (now 17-18-1). It’s the second victory against a national champion for Samuel Nmomah who stopped in three rounds Irish champion Craig O’Brien last October in Milan (O’Brien’s corner threw in the towel).

The other fights: featherweight Mauro Forte defeated Joshua Ocampo, light heavyweight Voldy Toutin beat Jovan Smilic, in the middleweight division Joshua Nmomah defeated Nika Gvajava and Giovanni Sarchioto beat Ognjen Raukovic.
