Seniesa Estrada will once again push to fully unify all the strawweight titles.
The defending WBC/WBA champ was joined in the ring by WBA/IBF strawweight titlist Yokasta Valle after a hard-fought, ten-round win over former long-reigning IBF flyweight Leodela Yudica to defend her belts. Estrada won by scores of 97-93 on all three cards for her fourth overall title defense and first as a unified titlist.
The fight she wanted all along was a four-belt showdown versus Costa Rica’s Valle (28-2, 9KOs), a three-division titlist who made a point to be ringside for Estrada’s ESPN+ headliner Friday evening from The Palms in Las Vegas.
“I want Yokasta Valle,” Estrada told ESPN’s Bernardo Osuna as her divisional counterpart was within earshot. “I’m the best in this division. I want to prove it by beating Yokasta Valle and becoming undisputed.”
Estrada (25-0, 9KOs) pushed for the fight while both were with Golden Boy Promotions. Valle is still co-promoted by the company along with MarvNation Promotions, while Estrada went through a bitter split with them last year before she signed with Top Rank who has promoted her last three fights.
Prior to Friday, Estrada unified the WBA and WBC titles in a ten-round shutout of unbeaten Tina Rupprecht on March 25 in Fresno, California. On that same evening, Valle dealt the first defeat to Jessica Basulto Salazar in La Costa, Costa Rica for the seventh defense of at least one title.
Both fighters have said all the right things but it is now time to put pen to paper to crown the first-ever undisputed strawweight champion in either men’s or women’s boxing. Estrada views the matter as a foregone conclusion—and also the opportunity to stick it to her old promoter.
“She can just hand me those belts right now. When we fight, it’s going to be bad, bad for her,” vowed Estrada, a two-division titlist who has held at least one strawweight title since March 2021. “I’ve already faced fighters who are better than Yokasta Valle.
“It’s going to be an ass beating when I fight her. Not only am I beating her, I’m beating her trainer and I’m beating Golden Boy Promotions. Superbad all day, let’s go!”
