Polish light heavyweight Pawel Glazewski (19-1, 5 KOs), who is best known for his spirited and controversial loss to Roy Jones in late June, continued his comeback with the dominant stoppage of Ukrainian veteran Alexander Garaschenko in Bialobrzegi, Poland, on Sunday night. The end came at 2:49 of the third round

Garaschenko is now 15-14-1, 7 KOs. He is best known for an upset win over then 31-2 Kosovar Elvir Muriqi in 2005. Glazewski is ranked #12 by the WBC. On the same card, promoted by Tomasz Babilonski, local welterweight Krzysztof Szot (17-4-1, 5 KOs) outpointed Hungarian Sandor Racz (3-2, 1 KO) over four.

Rising Russian welterweight prospect Konstantin Ponomarev (18-0, 9 KOs), 20, stayed active by having an interesting affair on past Thursday night in the resort city of Cancun. Ponomarev, WBC Youth I/C welterweight titlist, took part in a special night of boxing, dedicated to the annual WBC convention, and impressively forced Mexican Wily Medina (4-6-2, 1 KO) to retire in his corner after the fifth round, in which his was down after the body shot. The victory was witnessed live by Kostya’s promoter Evgueny Vainstein and his matchmaker Alexey Vasiliev.

An undercard has been set for the Saturday’s encounter between WBO #11 Ukrainian light welterweight Sergey Fedchenko (31-2, 14 KOs) and his Azerbaijani opponent Azad Azizov (26-3-2, 16 KOs) for Sergey’s WBO European title. Several more familiar names will be featured in the show, promoted by K2 Ukraine.

In a semi-important heavyweight crossroads collision, undefeated Russian Vladimir Tereshkin (14-0-1, 7 KOs) will be tested by rough and dirty Ukrainian Maxim Pedyura (15-7-1, 12 KOs). Another hulking heavyweight Andriy Rudenko (22-0, 14 KOs), who is rated #14 by the WBO, faces Hungarian import Laszlo Toth (17-8, 12 KOs).

WBA #2, WBO #4 and IBF #6 light heavyweight Vyacheslav Uzelkov (27-2, 16 KOs), who is best known for a lopsided loss to Beibut Shumenov in July 2010 for the WBA light heavyweight title, and who is now seeking an extra shot at one of the major belts, will tune-up against little-skilled Hungarian Gyorgy Marosi (17-7, 9 KOs).

Finally, in a possible dog fight, tough-as-nails super bantamweight Mamed Yadgarov (16-6-1, 10 KOs) battles former Tajik amateur star Sherali Dostiev (8-0-1, 2 KOs).

The card is also almost set for the Troitsk event in Russia on Dec. 30, when comebacking former world heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev (36-7, 27 KOs) takes on fellow faded veteran Owen Beck (29-11, 20 KOs) and WBC #9 super middleweight Maxim Vlasov (24-1, 12 KOs) clashes against WBO #12 Geard Ajetovic (21-7-1, 10 KOs).

In another heated match-up WBO #7 welterweight Dmitry “Southern” Mikhailenko (14-0, 5 KOs) will test his skills against durable and dangerous veteran Roman Seliverstov (15-9, 4 KOs), a renowned local upset artist.

Former world-ranked Uzbek light middleweight Sherzod Husanov (15-0-1, 7 KOs) comes back after a long period off the ring against still unbeaten Maxim Chemezov (6-0, 2 KOs). Lightweight prospect Theodoros (Fedor) Papazov (8-0, 6 KOs) and light heavyweight Ilshat Khusnulgatin (6-0, 3 KOs) will also see action on the card.
