According to sources in Mexico, Marco Antonio Rubio (59-7-1, 51KOs) is heading in the direction of a fight with former WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell (27-1-1, 22Kos) on a date in August in Los Angeles, California.
Rubio was scheduled to fight on July 11th in El Paso, Texas. The event fell apart. Rubio has not been in the ring since suffering a two round knockout last October at the hands of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.
Dirrell would look to get back on the winning track after losing his WBC crown several weeks ago to Badou Jack. The loss also made Dirrell miss out on a lucrative mandatory defense against George Groves.
