MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In a battle for the undisputed lightweight championship, Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) overcame a big second half rally by Vasiliy Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) to win a twelve round unanimous decision.
The scores were 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 for Haney.
The fight had controversy in the aftermath, as many observers felt Lomachenko had done enough to pull out a close win of seven rounds to five. There were also a lot of scorecards that had the contest tallied as a draw.
The scorecard by Dave Moretti, which gave Haney eight of the twelve rounds, left a sour taste in the mouths of many on both sides.
