WBC light heavyweight champion "Bad" Chad Dawson (31-1) appeared on the latest edition of The Boxing Lab, krikya360.com's official audio show to discuss his upcoming fight against WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward. The fight will be contested at the super middleweight weight limit of 168 pounds on September 8th and will be televised by HBO.

In a recent interview on The Boxing Lab, Andre Ward said that there weren't any egotiations for the fight to take place at a catchweight between 168 and 175 pounds. Dawson disagreed with Ward's statement and said that they asked for the fight to take place at 170 pounds.

"We did throw a catchweight option out there. We asked for 170 and his people said no. They wouldn't budge," Dawson stated.  "What he said isn't true and he insisted that the fight take place in Oakland. We wanted the fight so we gave him everything he wanted. I'm a true champion and I'm willing to do what it takes to make the fight."

Dawson said that despite some people saying the fight will be boring he thinks the fight could be a potential Fight of the Year Candidate. He also said thinks he will put on one of the best performances of his career.

"People think that the fight will be boring because of our styles but I think it will be great fight. I think our styles will go great together.  I think it could be a Fight of the Year Candidate.

"The fans are going to see a totally different Chad Dawson. They will see the lightning speed, the footwork and everything else. It will all be on display," Dawson told The Boxing Lab.
