Z! Promotions have won the right to stage David Price’s vacant EBU title fight against Erkan Teper. The contest will take place in Stuttgart, Germany on July 17. The BBBoC released the details of the contest in their European championship circular. Price, 19-2 (16), had been due to feature on a Eddie Hearn-promoted bill in Liverpool later this month, but was forced to withdraw due to an injury.
The 31-year-old will instead vie for the vacant European heavyweight title, which was previously held by domestic rival Tyson Fury, and will hope to inflict Teper’s first professional defeat—the 32-year-old German prospect is currently 14-0 (9).
The Liverpudlian has won four times—three by stoppage—since losing back-to-back fights to Tony Thompson in 2013 (TKO 2 and TKO 5) and recently declared that those defeats are out of his system. Next month’s showdown will answer a lot of questions, we will find out if Price really is following those two setbacks.
