A beefed-up Danny Green is set to come in at his heaviest weight for Wednesday's IBO world title boxing defence against American 'assassin' Antonio Tarver.
Green has traditionally weighed in way below the 90.7kg [200-pound] cruiserweight limit, sometimes by as much as nine kilos.
After losing around 13 kilos through illness at the start of the year, Green now weighs more than he did before his health scare.
Trainer Angelo Hyder revealed Green was actually just over the cruiserweight limit on Monday morning.
Green was both playful and feisty in Monday's pre-fight media conference.
Responding to the summation of his style as "primitive" by Tarver's veteran trainer Jim Williams, Green brought a couple of mock caveman clubs to the media conference.
"You've got to try and have some fun. This is meant to be enjoyable, so if I don't enjoy it, I don't want to be doing it," Green said.
He was a little bit more pointed about some of the other remarks attributed to Team Tarver.
"Affectionately, the Americans have sometimes been flagged as 'septic tanks' and there's a reason for that, because there's been nothing but crap come out of their mouths so far," Green said.
"I'm not going to let what these guys say get to me."
The Tarver camp found itself in defence mode over remarks made by Williams and Buddy McGirt, the former junior welterweight and welterweight world champion.
McGirt insists comments he had made about Green had been taken out of context and he had not suggested the Australian had illegal substances put into his gloves.
"I didn't accuse anybody of anything. All I did was say what was told to me," said McGirt, referring to reports Roy Jones Jr had complained of Green's hands being illegally wrapped before their 2009 fight in Sydney.
A diplomatic Tarver stressed he trusted the IBO and the Combat Sports Authority of NSW would ensure the fight would be conducted fairly.
Octogenarian Williams was again blunt in his assessment of Green's style.
"He has no defence. His defence is his offence," Williams said of Green.
"He has the will, but he don't have the skill. We're going to out-think him."
To which a poetically-inspired Green replied: "I may not have the skill, but I've got the will and in both hands I've got a couple of sleeping pills!"
Tarver guaranteed he would not be blown out in a round like Jones was by Green.
"They thought that an old, slow, 42-year-old guy would be showing up on Wednesday night," Tarver said.
"But that's not the case. You've got a hungry, determined assassin that's showing up."
The fight will be refereed by Englishman Howard Foster, who also controlled the Green-Jones bout.
