Lightweight Curmel Moton faces Bryan Mercado in a six-round bout promoted by former titleholder Danny Garcia’s Swift Promotions on November 30 at ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Moton, a protege of Floyd Mayweather, hails from Salt Lake City, Utah, but now resides and trains in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight will be Moton’s fifth of the year. The 18-year-old Moton with a record of 6-0 (5 KOs), is riding a three-fight knockout streak, including a first-round knockout of Hilario Martinez Moreno in a scheduled six-rounder.
He started the year with an eight-round unanimous decision over undefeated Anthony Cuba in March in an eight-round fight, which also is the only time he has gone to a decision as a pro.
Mercado, 29, 11-6-1 (6 KOs), is an Ecuadorian southpaw also training out of Las Vegas. He enters the fight on a two-fight losing streak, most recently dropping an eight-round decision to Nathan Rodriguez in Temecula, California, in September.
