WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford took a swipe at his division rival, WBC/IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence.

Spence was scheduled to defend his world titles against Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao on August 21, in the main event of a Fox Sports pay-per-view from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

But less than two weeks before the fight, it was revealed that Spence was forced to withdraw from the contest when a serious eye injury was discovered during a pre-fight exam with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Spence was quickly replaced by WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas, who was already set to see action on the undercard. Ugas was initially scheduled to face Fabian Maidana, with the Argentinian boxer withdrawing due to a bad cut sustained in training camp.

Pacquiao, 42-years-old and inactive for over two years, was a big underdog against Spence, but found himself to be the favorite against Ugas.

Many observers were hoping to see Pacquiao pull out a win - and then face Spence in a three belt unification.

That scenario was destroyed on Saturday night.

Ugas was able to use his skills to outbox Pacquiao over twelve rounds, for a well deserved unanimous decision win.

Crawford, who himself wanted a fight with Pacquiao for several years, believes Spence took a big hit with the outcome, because he lost a big money pay-per-view dance partner.

"Looks like Errol Spence [is going to] need me after all tho. I know you really mad about that fight last night [between Pacquiao and Ugas], because I was - but not in a hating way, just in a missed opportunity way. Don’t beat yourself up about it, get well champ," Crawford stated on social media.
