Former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) has no problem with the formal offer which Top Rank presented to him, to face IBO/WBA middleweight champion Genaddy Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs) on July 12 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Golovkin will move up to 168-pounds for the fight.

"My agent and my lawyers were talking to [Top Rank's CEO] Bob Arum I had three options. The first was Jean Pascal at 175 pounds, Andre Ward at 168 and Gennady Golvkin also at super middleweight," Chavez said.

"With Pascal, I decided against it because I'm not a fighter at 175 pounds, I'm at 168. With Ward, I think he is in some legal trouble right now [with his promoter]. So the best option, the one I like and the one I think people like - is Golovkin."

"Experts say he is one of the best pound for pound fighters and I've always wanted to fight the best, as I did with Sergio Martinez - and I want to continue fighting good opponents.

Chavez is pressing for the Golovkin fight to get done, because he needs at least three months for training camp.

"I have to know if the fight is going forward or not, three months prior to the preparation - because if the contract is not signed before that time, then the fight is not going to happen because I need enough time to prepare physically and mentally," said Chavez.
