According to the camp of Mexican fighter Robinson Castellanos, his fight against Colombian contender Oscar Escandon will reportedly take place during the month of February, in a battle for the interim featherweight world title of the World Boxing Council.

This fight was approved by the WBC after featherweight champion Gary Russell suffered an injury which prevents him from fighting in the near future. Consequently, to avoid the division being frozen, the WBC authorized the bout for the interim belt.

Robinson expects a finalized date to come down at any moment. Initially it was said that this fight would potentially take place on January 16th as part of the same card where Deontay Wilder will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Artur Szpilka of Poland.

Castellanos finally secured the golden opportunity, after long wait, when he defeated several tough opponents including former world champion Celestino Caballero of Panama, and in his last outing he retired Texan Rocky Juarez.

Robinson arrives with a record of 23-11, and 13 wins by knockout. He is 33 years old. Escandon, 31, has a record of 24-2 and 16 knockouts.
