We recently welcomed "King" Carlos Molina to krikya360.com's official audio show, The Boxing Lab.
One of the subjects that the Mexican junior middleweight touched on was the possibility of a rematch against Erislandy Lara. The two fighters battled to a controversial draw in March of last year in Las Vegas, NV. Some observers felt that Molina had done enough to win the fight.
Molina told us that he would love to fight Lara again but that there haven't been any negotiations for a rematch.
"I am trying to get a rematch with Lara. I never chose any opponent but I want that fight. Lara says that I never gave him a rematch. At least that's what I heard. That's not true," Molina explained. "I have never had that offered to me. I have never ducked anybody and I never will. I want to fight everybody at 154 pounds and I am ready to prove that I am the best," he continued.
Molina must first take care of business and pull off the upset on Saturday night against James Kirkland before he can think of the Lara rematch. The Chicago based fighter said that he will put on a spectacular show on Saturday and that he will walk out of the ring as the winner.
"I am going to give it all I have (on Saturday). I always fight with all of my heart and I am going to leave it all in the ring. I never show up and just try to survive. I am going to go in there and do what I have to do to pull out the win," concluded Molina.
