Chepo Reynoso, manager of former two-division world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33 KOs), admits he's a little nervous as the weeks draw closer to their HBO Pay-Per-View showdown with WBO junior middleweight world champion Liam 'Beefy' Smith (23-0-1, 13 KOs).

The fight takes place on Mexican Independence Day Weekend on September 17 at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas.

Canelo steps back to the junior middleweight division to chase another title. He previously captured the WBA and WBC world titles at 154-pounds.

Smith, who comes from a fighting family, is traveling over from the UK to upset the odds. His three fighting brothers include Callum Smith, Stephen Smith and Paul Smith. 

Chepo is very pleased with holding the bulk of Canelo's training camp in San Diego, California.

"The climate here in San Diego is perfect for training. They have a great training environment here at the gym - we have the privacy and the space to run the distance and that makes us very happy. We are enthusiastic with our training efforts, and are working hard to get another title. We are content with the way training is going, and we are looking forward to showing the fans what we have been working on," Chepo said.

Many fans were surprised when Canelo and his handlers selected Smith for their next return. Smith, while a world champion and undefeated, is unknown outside of the UK and has never been tested against top level competition. 

Chepo disagrees with some of the opinions on Smith. He views him as a very dangerous who fighter who scored some very strong knockout wins in his last eight outings.

"Liam Smith offers us the opportunity to be at the top. His last eight fights have all been won via knockout. He is a dangerous fighter, and just because he isn't known here doesn't take away his potential. Smith has to be doing something right to be able to have such powerful victories under his belt, and that has given us an indicator that he is dangerous, and we have to be careful to not enter the ring too confident. We are working our defense specifically for this fight, because we don't want one of his punches to catch us off guard," Chepo said.
