WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs) will head to Los Angeles at the end of February to begin training camp, according to the boxer's manager Jose "Chepo" Reynoso. Canelo will return to action on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Canelo has been doing light training for the last couple of days in Guadalajara.
"We are training very well with 'Canelo', running in the morning, and then in the afternoon training at the gym. The training is light, because there is still a long time until the fight. In late February we will head to the United States. Right now we are boxing to relax," Reynoso said.
"When we get to the U.S., we will have the name of the opponent and there our work will be focused on the strategy [for that opponent]. The people at Golden Boy are taking care of everything. The strong stage of our work will be done in Los Angeles. "
The opponent has not been finalized, but Reynoso and the other members of Canelo's team are hoping WBA "regular" champion Austin Trout is the selected opponent.
