Jermall Charlo’s wish may come true.

Immediately following Canelo Alvarez’s crushing stoppage win over Billy Joe Saunders on May 8, the WBC middleweight champion Charlo called out the pound-for-pound king on social media even when the Mexican superstar made it clear that he wanted to become undisputed at 168 pounds and next fight IBF titlist Caleb Plant.

“F--- the money, f--- the fame, f--- the networks,” Charlo said in an Instagram post. “I’ll lose my title and go to 168, make the fight happen now.”

Lifelong Alvarez confidant and trainer Eddy Reynoso revealed that they are amiable to fight Charlo if the Texas is so inclined to take a two-step toward Alvarez.

“We're ready. Let's negotiate. We’re ready to fight Charlo, with whoever. I think it would be a great and interesting fight,” Reynoso told Little Giant Boxing.

Alvarez (56-1-2, 2 38 KO) is the WBC, WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine champion at super middleweight. He’s made his desire known to unify the division ever since he entered 168 full time late last year by beating Callum Smith.  Alvarez has since beaten Avni Yildirim and Saunders in succession and plans on fighting for the fourth time in 10 months on Mexican Independence weekend on September 18.

“More than anything is to begin negotiations with Plant's people, with his promoter and come to an agreement,” said Reynoso. “An important fight and then see what's next. I like the Charlo fight, [Errol] Spence if he moves up [from 147], [David] Benavidez also.”

Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) is coming off an entertaining and one-sided, unanimous decision beatdown of Juan Macias Montiel on June 19

“It was a very good fight,” said Reynoso. “I have known Montiel since he started his career and I've always thought he was a great fighter. He needed a little more to win the fight. But I think he's at the level where he can become a world champion.”
