Former two division champion Joe Calzaghe is not sure, at least not yet, if heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua made the right decision in selecting Robert Garcia as the trainer to prepare him for the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua, who Usyk outboxed over twelve rounds last September at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will attempt to reclaim the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world titles on August 20th in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua, a former two-time champion, was led to the belts, and Olympic gold, by Robert McCracken.

Following the loss to Usyk, Joshua began to search for a new trainer and eventually settled on Garcia.

Calzaghe admits Joshua needed to make some changes in the aftermath of his most recent loss, but he's not sold on Garcia being the right man for that change.

“I’m not sure [if Joshua made the right decision in picking Garcia], we have to wait and see at the end of the day. I think it was time for him to have a change so I think that’s the right idea, whether Garcia is the right guy, I’m not sure, we’ll wait and see," Calzaghe told Boxing Social.

“I think he needs to change things and when a fighter realizes they need to change, that’s a step in the right direction. He knows he tactically needs to change against Usyk who is a very, very, good boxer. His amateur pedigree, boxing from a young age, he’s an excellent boxer and a big guy. I think if Joshua can make his strength pay more in this fight and use his punching power – it could be really interesting. Look, it’s gonna be a tough ask but it’ll be an exciting fight.”
