Unbeaten British welterweight Kell Brook will face Luis Galarza in December 17 in what should be his final fight before a tilt at a world title.
The Sheffield boxer will make his American debut when he takes on Galarza - a Puerto Rican with a 17-2 record who has won his last eight bouts - at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
The bout is seen as a tune-up for 'Special K' ahead of a showdown at the start of 2012 for a world belt, though it is not yet known who he will be facing.
Promoter Eddie Hearn is in advanced negotiations over a possible opponent, with an announcement expected in the near future.
"Late last night I was talking to another promoter in America and we are in deep negotiations with regards Kell's world title fight next March," Hearn told Sky Sports NewsHD.
"But first of all, on December 17, he's fighting a Puerto Rican called Luis Galarza.
"He's 17-2, won his last eight and beat Paul Delgado, a former world title challenger, in his last fight.
"He's a tough kid, but it's an opportunity for Kell to go out and get some American exposure. It's also the chance for a final tune-up before that world title fight."
In the main event, Andre Ward and Carl Froch collide in a Showtime televised super middleweight unification clash.
