Eddie Hearn says that talks over a possible Brit blockbuster between Kell Brook and Amir Khan have begun.

The unbeaten Sheffield welterweight star faces an IBF welterweight World title eliminator next Saturday night (October 20) in the Steel City against Argentine Hector Saldivia in Betfair’s ‘This Is It’, with Randall Bailey defending the title against Devon Alexander in New York on the same night.

Khan returns to action on December 15 against Carlos Molina in Los Angeles after his shock stoppage loss to Danny Garcia in July, and Brook and Khan met on the Ringside set on Sky Sports last week in an explosive edition of the boxing magazine show.

Brook insists he has far too much power for Khan, who has been halted twice in his career, and he intends to dish out a crushing defeat to his bitter rival.

"I'm very excited, we were on Ringside the other day, having a few words and I'm ready for that fight," he told Sky Sports News HD. "Amir Khan has been knocked out at lightweight and light-welterweight, and I'll finish him off at welterweight, no problem.

"We need to get it on now, a big blockbuster for the fans in a big stadium. It's been talked about for a while now, so it needs to happen."

Brook’s promoter Hearn believes that fight fans are desperate for the pair to meet and has been in touch with Khan’s team about the fight.

“I spoke with Khan's team a month or so ago and again after their appearance on Ringside, it's certainly a fight that can be made,” said Hearn. “It's too big to be ignored and it’s only a matter of time before the public virtually insist on Brook vs Khan happening.”

Brook must firstly get past Hector Saldivia next Saturday in a final eliminator for the IBF welterweight title and he is full of respect for his dangerous opponent.

"This kid is no idiot, he's coming over here, he's had more knockouts then I've had fights, he's well schooled," said Brook. "He's moved from Argentina to train with (American trainer) Freddie Roach so he's definitely up for this.
