According to the Alex Morrison, manager of WBA junior welterweight champion Ricky Burns (41-5-1, 14KOs), the fight against former four division world champion Adrien Broner (32-2, 24KOs) is heading to a date in February. The fight is slated to take place in Las Vegas.

Burns retained his title last Friday in Glasgow, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over mandatory challenger Kiryl Relikh.

Burns made history this year, when he knocked out Michele Di Rocco to become the first fighter from Scotland to win world titles in three different divisions. He had previously won world titles at featherweight and super featherweight.

The terms of the deal are practically finalized, says Morrison. He says the location will fall in Las Vegas and there will be February date, but the venue itself has not been finalized and they were out some of the terms.

"I'd say it's 99% certain the fight against Broner in Las Vegas will go ahead," Burns' manager Alex Morrision told STV. "We are in on-going negotiations with Broner's camp. It's likely to take place in February, as yet a venue to be identified."

Burns is very confident about coming out victorious with his hand raised, even in Las Vegas.

"Ricky could receive a life-changing amount of money with his fight and I'm confident he'll retain his title," he said. "He's not going there to sell his title. He'll be going there to retain it. I think he showed on Friday he's capable of beating anyone."

Broner has been inactive since a ninth-round stoppage win over Burns' countryman Ashley Theophane in April.

The fight with Theophane was originally a defense of the WBA championship. Broner was unable to make the 140-pound limit and lost his title on the scale. Burns then captured that vacant title.

Burns and Broner were at one time in line to fight each other at super featherweight several years ago. Burns' manager Alex Morrison rejected the fight, stating that he wasn't happy with the financial terms.
